About Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)
Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is a small perennial shrub native to parts of India, the Middle East, and Africa. It has a long history of traditional use and is one of the most widely recognized plants in Ayurvedic ethnobotanical traditions. The plant produces small green flowers followed by bright orange-red berries enclosed in papery husks, making it an attractive addition to botanical collections and educational gardens.
Ashwagandha is well adapted to warm, dry climates and can be grown as a perennial in frost-free regions or as an annual in cooler climates. Mature plants typically reach 2–4 feet in height and develop a bushy growth habit.
